AEI History
Alderson Engineering, Inc. (AEI) began serving the Philadelphia area construction industry in 1990. What started as a one-man operation in the basement of President Howard Alderson’s home has blossomed into a full service Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Consulting Engineering Firm. Howard Alderson has been practicing as a Registered Professional Engineer since 1981 and has 35 plus years of experience in the construction industry.
Howard has taken the family approach while slowly hand molding AEI into one of the regions top firms. The family atmosphere that is so coveted by Howard and his employees does not stop at the office doors. It carries out in the relationships that we develop with each and every client. It is always our goal to deliver our designs on schedule, on budget, and to make the process an enjoyable one for the entire design team.

AEI is one of the premier and most respected geothermal designers in the United States, responsible for over 25,000 tons of installed geothermal systems.
AEI Structure
The firm routinely works on multiple projects simultaneously, by developing project teams that see the project from start to finish. The engineers that meet with the client, start the project, develop the design, prepare the plans and specifications, attend construction meetings, are the same engineers that inspect the final work and close out the project. Our staff is dedicated to the design and completion of high efficiency buildings, while preserving the client’s capital. Most of our employees have been working at AEI right out of college and the average employee has been with the company for over 10 years.
Many of AEI’s engineers have a background in construction, giving us a unique ability to be able to understand construction issues and help the contractor resolve issues. We have a knowledge base that allows us to understand how long a job takes to get complete, how many tradesman are needed to accomplish a task, and how much it should cost.
